THOMAS JAMES BURGE

Thomas Burge has worked in the fields of Fashion and Interior/Artisan Styling with a period in the service and community sector followed by an expansion into Art curation - since graduating from the National Art School, East Sydney in 1988.

Initially he worked full time in fashion advertising, developing concepts and creating campaigns for clients such as OrotonFiorelliSchwarzkopfL'OrealThe Queen Victoria Building and Skygarden.

Thomas completed further training whilst living and working in New York, returning to freelance styling for magazines published by groups such as Australian Consolidated Press, Murdoch Magazines, John Fairfax Group, Howitz Group and Mason Stewart.

During this time, Thomas was also Fashion Editor for Studio Men, in house Stylist for Black & White Magazine, in house Stylist for David Jones and Lecturer at the National Art School, East Sydney. Whilst working with fashion icons and designers such as Elle McPherson, Sarah Murdoch, Peter Chadwick, Nikki Zimmermann, Alex Perry, Wayne Cooper and Jayson Brunsdon.

In 1996 Thomas moved to Victoria and continued freelance styling whilst also partnering in the development of 'The Koonwarra Store', South Gippsland, a renowned and innovative fine food and wine store, specialising in regional, seasonal and organic produce.  He has been extensively involved in the development and promotion of this small region of South Gippsland as an example of an ethical contemporary regional lifestyle.

Having ultimately established 'Storehouse' Koonwarra, and discovering a passion for representing fine artists and quality artisan lifestyle products - many from that region - in 2017 Thomas decided to showcase the treasures he had discovered to a wider audience in St Kilda, Melbourne. His focus is now on building the range of diverse fine art and product from his St Kilda base whilst developing relationships with and between the makers and artists and their customers. He continues to offer bespoke artisan styling services and has established the new Storehouse as a creative hub modeling accessibility, collaboration and diversity.
