Glimmer is a body of works by Cristina Popovici that centres crisp colours and interactive, textural surfaces to capture small moments of joy. Popovici harnessed her emotional charge from her personal life events, in this case meeting her youngest grandchild, and infused it in a constellation of bright, light tones and tactile marks - from soft, matte and blurred, to deeply contrasting, high gloss and rough. 

Unlike her previous bodies of works, she led each painting with colour that corresponded with emotion. Yellow resembling joy, white resembling purity, purple resembling playfulness, deep reds with femininity and crisp greens with new beginnings. Each colour was utilised to create a visual weight, with a visual placement that allows the emotions to be magnified and interwoven. 

Mark making was then used to give body and direction to the works, with physical textures and interactive surfaces deepening the visual narrative. 

This body of works is a celebration of life and a reminder of the small, soft moments of peace and joy that accompany new beginnings.
