The Almost Belonging series draws on the bush as a place with memories long before we arrived. Painted in watercolour and gouache on cotton paper and finished with cold wax, familiar forms appear grounded, yet their colour sits slightly awry. The landscape holds them anyway — echoing the inherited unease of settlement, and the quiet mental state of being present, but never feeling fully at home.
