Hand built, High Fired

Underglaze, slip glaze and liquid glaze.

My work is both planned and intuitive — a balance between control and surrender. I love the slow, tactile process of hand-building, shaping each form through slab and coil techniques. It excites me when the clay starts to find its own rhythm and it stops being about control — becoming a dialogue between me and the clay. I follow the material’s lead, allowing fractures and textures to emerge naturally, revealing the raw, organic beauty of the earth itself.

My pieces are organic, visceral, earthy, volcanic, raw, and textural. They combine the loud with the quiet — the tension between ruggedness and stillness. The work invites a quiet reconnection — a grounding presence that echoes the raw, tactile essence of the earth.

I’m inspired by the contrast between the old and the new — the ancient and the modern — that coexist in the architecture of Greece. I find the textures and colours revealed over time and ageing compelling: surfaces that show their history and carry the marks of weather, touch, and life.

In my everyday life, the world often feels loud, busy, and chaotic. Working with clay brings me the quiet I crave — a meditative space where I can slow down and focus on the simple rhythm of making. The process quietens my mind and reminds me to let go of control, to be fully present in the moment. It’s in that stillness that creativity flows most freely — where I feel centred.
