French artist Jean-Jacques Henner on a string of mixed pearls and crystals
These works explore the intersections of memory, romantic geography and the female form.
I look at how places we love remain within us. This exhibition serves as a visual diary of emotional landscapes, capturing the essence of nostalgia and enduring connection.
Using a mixed media layering process to mirror how human memory works, just as our minds stack experiences, text and emotions, I print, transfer these complex, layered “memories “ not only onto paper but onto simple silhouette clothing, transforming everyday garments into wearable keepsakes. These textiles are anchored by repurposed jewellery found in visited, loved places. These discarded trinkets serve as physical artefacts of specific moments in time.
By blending, textiles and found objects, each layer conceals and reveals elements. The stark simplicity of the clothing provides a rich clean canvas for the textures of memory.
The jewellery bridging the gap from past to present.
At the core of these works is the female form, interwoven with iconic places like Venice. The contours of the figure merge with the architectural lines, waterways, fabric folds, iconic artworks.
Where Love Lingers is an invitation to pause and reflect on you own inner maps and celebrate the permanent marks of memory and love.
