I am a multidisciplinary visual artist working thematically with women in mythology, particularly ancient Greek myths and archeology, which I approach with a background in Jungian philosophy. I create my works in situ in my studio at Gasworks Arts Park, Albert Park and exhibit regularly. My exhibition history presents works based on the female icon in mythology, focusing on myths where women have faced rites of passage, which has mirrored my own personal subconscious evolvement.
My solo exhibitions over the past two decades reflect my personal engagement with the protagonists of myths including: Persephone’s abduction to the underworld (at Craft, 2003 and Fortyfive Downstairs, 2008); “Psyche: Transcending the Abyss, and Arcadia” (Gallerysmith, 2012); and the Sumerian goddess Inanna and her descent to the underworld (Gallerysmith, 2014).
Investigating the alchemical properties of coloured pigments, graphite and collage, I create imagined worlds and three-dimensional forms to express my interest in the female form and the world it inhabits. The myths I choose to work with act as their own allegories within my personal experience.
